Absynthe Minded's first album and arguably their jazziest, also happens to be one of my favourites. This was the first AM album I listened to and as soon as the violin kicked in during I Am A Fan, I knew I was instantly a fan (pardon the pun). Initially, I found Acquired Taste quite a confusing album, with its mix of genres, wide range of influences and multiple instruments. I'd never heard a violinist take such a central role in a pop/rock band before and ultimately Renaud and his strings were the things that got me hooked on AM. One of the highlights of the album, for me, is Out Of The Piano, where a whole track is devoted to letting Jan show off his improvisational skills, which also serves as an introduction to In Her Head, a song which seems to contain more solos then members of the band, not to mention the line "She utterly moves me, I find myself gasping breath as she looks in my eyes" which I think is lovely. There's not actually a song I don't like on this album, which is rare for me, there's usually at least one I skip. Acquired Taste is great. Discuss it in this thread!

Such a perfectly titled album, on first listen to this album I didn't really appreciate how spectacular it actually is. Well... not until I got to "Out of The Piano" at least, my favourite song on the album by far and as mentioned above it works perfectly with "In Her Head" which happens to be another great song on the album. I often watch a live performance video on Youtube of the two songs together, solos galore. "I Am a Fan" was a song I wasn't a fan of at first, which looking back now seems criminal, I apologise for being so ridiculous. "Walk with me" is one of their more beautiful songs, it's stripped back and raw with acoustic guitar leading the way alongside Bert's romantic lyrics. It takes an acquired taste to fully enjoy this album.
